Our bug has a little stomach bug :(

Our little gal came down with a stomach bug last night. She has thrown up a few times today, had her sheets washed a few times and is staying on the easier to clean veranda when she is not sleeping. Poor gal. She is quite the trooper and is mostly her normal happy wiggly self just gets tired and fussy easier than normal.

Oh, before I forget, yesterday when Regina, the wonderful lady who helps with the cleaning, came Avery "welcomed" her and reached out to shake her hand! This was the first time she has automatically done that! She is really getting use to life here.

Malakal Salon

Mom got her hair braided by a friend while Avery watched and then had to have her hair "done". It is getting long enough to put into little elastics. We will have to find some when we go to Nairobi! This picture doesn't show off her hair well but it did look like a who person from Dr. Seuss.

Daddy and Avery adventures

Daddy tried out the ergo carrier we have on loan from a friend. Avery loved going for a walk with her Daddy!

More new words...

Avery is learning so quickly these days. She now can tell you where her ears, eyes, nose and mouth are. The nose is her fav! She will even come up to you and point out your ears or nose. This can be dangerous as her little fingers sometimes jam themselves up your nose!

tooth update

Avery is working on teeth number 7,8, AND 9! Poor thing! She was acting a bit fussier than normal yesterday and what do you know but she has two molars coming in as well and an upper tooth! Prayer are greatly appreciated for our little bug as she doesn't feel 100% right now.

Colors

Our little artist! She finally has taken to drawing with and not eating crayons! She even made a creation on the card our teammates made for me today!

I can fit, I promise...

Avery loves her new stroller from Grandma and Grandpa Rounds. The only difficult thing is for her to realize it isn't for her but for a doll. :) For now she can squeeze in with a little help.

quick word update

While I am at it, I thought I should give an update on our gal's growing vocab. Avery is learning a new word or two each day it seems. Lately her words have been...bird, lizard, Avery, masa (for ma'a salama- the arabic thank you) and meow as in what a cat sounds like.

Happy Mother's Day

We celebrated Mother's Day today with a sand storm. The pic looks a bit yellow because the dust was so thick outside it made everything yellowish. Avery gave me a great present of sleeping through the night and then taking a FOUR hour nap! She even tried to stuff a diaper for me (the green one in the pic!) she is such a thoughtful gal!

Happy belated 16 months!!!

Here is a pic that captures Avery quite well. She loves sitting on a little foot stool using a side table as her desk. She loves sharing her office with Daddy. :) Busy work days typically include getting through a few books and figuring out her puzzle.
