All by myself!
Avery has become a pro at getting on and off her little truck, though sometimes she doesn't get the whole facing forward thing.
She is getting so big!
We went to a local pediatrician here for Avery's well-baby visit and are proud to announce that she is 17 pounds and 8 ounces! That was more than I was expecting, though it still keeps her right below the 5%. After we got home I realized the doctor didn't measure her height so I tried to and came up with 29 1/2 inches. Not sure how accurate that is but it goes along her growth curve so I am guessing it is close enough! :)
A few days ago we went to a great "home" store and got some adorable bedding for Avery, thanks Grandma and Grandpa Rounds! While in the store I was looking around at all the cute stuff while Avery and Taylor hung out in the kids section. He was showing her a stuffed dog and she said "ruf ruf"! Yesterday she was playing peek-a-boo using a door and every time she would come out from behind the door she would say "peeh"! So cute!
She also has advanced to the stage of being a climber! Avery was playing in the living room area we have for her blocked off with some of our footlockers. Taylor was busy working on his computer and I was in her room. Taylor turned around to check on her the same time I was walking back into the room and she was standing on top of the footlocker! We are working on other ideas to keep a Avery safe zone in our house without having a tall stack of footlockers.

Karen Vineyard Church
Today we visited the Karen Vineyard Church. Karen is the part of town named after Karen Blixen, the "Out of Africa" lady. It was great to be in an expat church for a Sunday and we really enjoyed the ability to put Avery in the nursery and be able to worship together, at least for 30 or so minutes until we could hear her cries from across the courtyard! :) She handled it all really well and took a great 3 hour nap when we got home! I love that she had her name on masking tape on her back, it was such a nice touch from "home" I made Taylor take a picture of it, glad he puts up with me! Avery's face in the other picture is getting to be more common.
On another note...Avery is getting so busy these days that it is rare to be able to get a shot of her face. If we do get a picture with her looking at the camera she starts to laugh or squeal and we end up with a very cute picture like the one on this post.

African "robeez"
These are great indoor shoes! They are a lot wider than her other soft soled shoes but have the length we will be needing any day now as her feet keep growing! I was so glad to stumble across these at a fancy schmancy mall near by...and on sale no less! :)

Happy 13 months Avery!
Wow, we have officially made it into toddlerhood! She is such fun as she laughs her way through the days and makes new sounds and is starting to understand us more and more. Today she picked up Dad's sock and brought it to him after he asked her! What a sweetie!

Avery skills update
On Monday we were having a meeting at our flat and Avery was getting fussy and tired of not being the center of attention. To my surprise and delight she walked over to where I was sitting looked up and whined mama mama mama! I think that counts as her first time of really calling me mama!
She also is starting to say "up" when she wants to be picked up some of the times. She has started to sign "more" while eating but will also do it randomly at other times throughout the day. Not sure if she quite gets it but it is a step towards communicating!
She has gotten back into her grove of sleeping through the night to which we are very very grateful for!
On a more dangerous note she has started to step on things to reach higher and higher. She has found a way to stand on top of her little walker and is only days away from figuring out how to climb over the footlockers that we have placed to create a safe play area for her. Bumps and bruises are starting to become a daily occurrence.
As we have been told each new stage keeps getting better and better! We are so proud of our girl!

Sunday best
Here is a pic of Avery hanging out with Dad outside of church after she had had her fill of sitting still during the sermon. We had Dad's good camera with us today because a fellow SIMer was being commissioned from his home church, the church we attend.
