Happy Mother's Day

We celebrated Mother's Day today with a sand storm. The pic looks a bit yellow because the dust was so thick outside it made everything yellowish. Avery gave me a great present of sleeping through the night and then taking a FOUR hour nap! She even tried to stuff a diaper for me (the green one in the pic!) she is such a thoughtful gal!

Happy belated 16 months!!!

Here is a pic that captures Avery quite well. She loves sitting on a little foot stool using a side table as her desk. She loves sharing her office with Daddy. :) Busy work days typically include getting through a few books and figuring out her puzzle.

1, 2, 3, 4....

Taylor likes to count to three and then swing Avery. She started to say two when he says two. Today I was playing with her and lifting her over my head. I said one, we both said two and then she said three and four! We have such a little smarty!

Can she get any cuter?

Avery is such a cutie. As you know by now, she has to have accessories like a bow, hat, shoes, or belt. I recently went visiting and needed to wear a head scarf. Avery was napping when I was getting ready to leave but when I got back and she saw my head scarf she HAD to have one as well!

avery's adventures in Sudan!

Oh, and a huge praise for city water to be flowing once again so we can get her back into her cloth diapers! Plastic pampers in 110 degrees is not a good combo. :)

On the mend...

Sorry for the lack of pics or even posts for that matter. Making a big move to a very different climate with a teething, sick toddler has taken its toll. Avery, thankfully, has gotten over her cold, her first molar came through and is getting over a bad case of prickly heat. I am getting over my cold and hope to get some pics up soon of Avery exploring her new home and friends. Within a week she felt very comfortable with our team mates and is starting to get the hang of shaking hands with everyone (a VERY important thing here).

Happy 15 months Avery!

Avery celebrated her 15 month birthday with a cough and chest congestion. We checked with a doctor and a nurse :) and she is okay to fly and only on baby tylenol. It is sad to hear her cough through the night but it seems she gets enough rest as she is still herself at times. I hate to admit it but it has been nice that she isn't go everywhere getting into everything as we finish packing up. Dare I say perhaps she would even nap on the plane tomorrow? Please be praying for her to heal quickly and she travels well and adjusts to life in Sudan as easily as possible.

Bedside table transformed to jungle gym...

She is quite the little creative one. She loves trying to squeeze into things around the flat and this was one of her latest experiments. I also have to mention that she is trying to let us know her opinions on things. For awhile she has been very demanding when she wants to wear her shoes inside or some other "accessory" like Dad's belt or Mom's watch. This particular day she wanted to wear socks, oh and no pants! She kept pulling them off! Crazy times with Avery!

Our little girl is starting to talk!

Over the last week or so Avery is copying our words more and more. This morning Avery walked over to her high chair, looked at me and made the sign for eat while saying "foo" for food! She also has started to say "dank dou" after we hand her a sippy cup or a toy for thank you! She is also starting to give hugs to her little friends! We are enjoying neck hugs and leg hugs as seen in this pic.
